FAKES TAKE ON MANY GUISES.
Here are four of the more commonly found:
1. Pieces produced from moulds with shapes resembling originals, falsely marked and usually badly painted.
2. Legitimate copies and "in the style of" wares such as Wedgwood, Moorland, etc. falsely marked.
3. Genuine banded wares with overpainted patterns - again normally badly painted.
4. Honeyglaze and war time "white ware" overpainted with Clarice Cliff patterns.

WITHIN CLARICE CLIFF 'ONLINE'
When buying Clarice Cliff, remember she only produced wares for A J Wilkinson's & their subsidiary Newport Pottery. Later pieces are normally marked Royal Staffordshire Pottery, and legitimate reproduction items were only produced by Midwinter, and now Wedgwood who currently own the Clarice Cliff and Bizarre trademarks amongst others.
OUR ADVICE
If in doubt, walk away. If you are really tempted, get a receipt from the seller stating exactly what they have said you are buying and make sure it includes their name, address and telephone number
Note: Vendors are obliged to provide their name and address under UK law. We recommend you also make a note of the venue.
